Gaming is probably one of the most popular pastimes in the world and not a week goes by without another technology hitting the market with the promise that it will give you the competitive edge you need to win. And having the cutting edge technology is essential in an age where gamers are using PCs, gaming consoles and portable gaming rigs like the Nintendo Switch. Logitech’s new Astro A30 headset is designed to work with everyone.
This latest gaming technology combines fashion and function in a multi-use headset available in either PlayStation or Xbox flavors. The Astro A30 has been designed for all platforms and even offers customizable speaker labels, just like the popular A40 model. Gamers can customize controls and connect up to three devices using the Logitech G Mobile app so gamers can create their ideal gaming experience across all platforms.
The Astro A30 combines Logitech’s reputation for comfort and flexibility with the latest gaming performance capabilities, including optimization for simultaneous multi-device connectivity and custom mixing. The Astro A30 works with PlayStation4, PlayStation5, Xbox One, XB Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC, macOS, iOS and Android.
The A30 connects quickly and reliably with Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED wireless technology. The PlayStation and Xbox versions come with their own LIGHTSPEED USB dongle. For games that play on both consoles, Logitech sells specific LIGHTSPEED dongles separately, along with spare earbuds, mics, and detachable cables.
The speakers used in the A30 are 40mm dynamic drivers that deliver powerful sound and great clarity. An on-ear joystick lets gamers mute, mix, adjust volume, play, pause and more. The audio and gaming experience can be customized on the go using the Logitech G Mobile app, available for iOS and Android.
Multiple devices can be used simultaneously, thanks to the professional-grade LIGHTSPEED 2.4GHz wireless dongle, which can connect to PC, Mac, PlayStation4, PlayStation5, Xbox One, XB Series X|S. There’s built-in Bluetooth for portable gaming devices, plus an old-school 3.5mm aux cable for everything else.
Players can choose to use the Astro 30’s detachable boom mic or the built-in version. There is a tone for both microphones and the level adjustment can be applied to both microphones. Each microphone delivers clear sound, with the boom arm providing maximum focus, while the built-in mic makes the headset more stylish.
A single charge of the headset provides over 27 hours of wireless battery life across all platforms, providing at least a few days of gaming. When it’s time to recharge, a USB-C charging port will top up soon the Astro 30. And thanks to a built-in accelerometer, the A30 headset shuts off as soon as no movement is detected after 30 minutes. This duration can be adjusted using the Logitech G mobile app.
In addition to being a wireless headset, the A30 can function as a wired model even if the internal batteries are completely discharged. By simply attaching the external boom microphone and plugging the headset into any device with a 3.5mm port, the game can continue.
The Astro 30 will ship on October 4 and is available in white and navy. Gamers can also personalize their headsets with interchangeable custom speaker labels and the label fit is the same as used on the Logitechs A40 headset. There is also a curated collection of tags for purchase or users can create custom designs using personal graphics.
The Astro A30 features swivel ear cups so the headset can lie flat when worn around the neck or when stored in the included hard carrying case. The design is meant to be shown in public, during streams, or as part of a battle post.
